Introducing
Joyals is a jewellery brand by Vera Alsina, a London-based artist with a Fine Arts background from Barcelona.
Inspired by her creative upbringing and her father’s jewellery business, she blends artistry and tradition into every piece. This collection of medals is a tribute to her grandfather’s drawings, Luis Alsina Cuixart.
Luis Alsina Cuixart was a great unique artist from the 20th century, he was primarily a painter, but also an innovative interior and graphic designer.
He was born in Barcelona, but grew up in Paris, travelled to New York because of the Second World War, then Mexico, and many other places before settling in Portugal. His artistic family used to hold dinners in Paris where many Catalan and Spanish artists, such as Picasso, were frequent guests. His unique style is captivating.
This costume jewellery collection was inspired by seven drawings of Luis Alsina from the 1940’s. They were sent with letters by post during the war exile, to his young sons, to raise their spirits, entertain them and send his love and hope during those challenging times.
The collection holds a profound meaning, all of them intends to inspire us during our lives, with the hope that we remember the most important emotions that reside in everybody’s hearts and souls: Love, Freedom, Friendship, Peace, Dream, Joy, and Fly (spread your wings).
The 20mm diameter charms are made in sterling silver in Italy, with high quality (2 mic) gold or fine rhodium plate over the silver to enhance shine and give protection. The designs are engraved on one side, and on the other side is the word that corresponds to the drawing’s story.
